To become a MammaYoda, I focused on the qualities I came to appreciate and created a base to work from:
- Being at peace with yourself
- Staying calm in the face of adversity
- Trusting your instincts
- Finding the quiet
There is no one size fits all approach to parenting.
The MammaYoda approach is not about changing your child or being prescribed step-by-step instructions for how to parent. What you will find is a safe space to openly discuss your views of what being a parent means to you and help you reach your goals of being the best you can be. Together, we will embark on a path toward putting away the baggage of the past and actively listening to your child and their needs. Each parent and child has different needs, and the program will be tailored to fit these needs. However, there are three components to the program that all clients will explore.
Mastering your Mind
Finding “the pause” before you react is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and your family. We have all had those cringe-worthy moments with our kids, when we say to ourselves, “I probably should not have said or done that.” What if we could end those shoulda, woulda, coulda moments with our kids by learning to stay calm? One of the first things we will be examining is how to find “the pause” and add into your daily conversations with your family.
Putting the oxygen mask on yourself before helping those around is a wonderful call to action for mammas in our current society. We are balancing too much at once and sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. When is the last time you did something for yourself? Through the MammaYoda approach, you will find that self-care is not a luxury that is afforded to everyone around you except you. Together, we will look into ways to reclaim your personal time, within your family’s schedule.
Trusting your Gut
We are all intuitive beings, but usually we have just stopped listening! You know what your body needs each day and you know what is going to make your family happy. But with everything moving so fast, it is sometimes hard to hear the voice inside you telling you what is best for you and your family. Together, we will work toward tapping into the cues from your child that could be so easily overlooked so you can better trust your instincts.
